''In the war they came round and put all the railings down because they ran out of scrap to make spit fire with and anybody who had any spare saucepans where asked to put them all out. But on Longley Crescent where I live they left a little bit because it had a plaque saying where the water stop tap was. Well we used that as a den for a game of finger and thumb, a rusty bum?''
Mr Wade, participant of All Our Stories workshop
Working with children from Pathways Academy (previously Longley School) the All Our Stories Project will include visits to the Central Archives and Graves Art Gallery as well as locally held workshops to interview older residents who have memories of Longley which they are willing to share. All the materials will form the basis of an exhibition in the Longley 4G Community Centre which will remain on display for the life of the Project. There is also an opportunity for volunteers to become involved in digital media as the whole project will be photographed and audio recorded.
